Beaches and Rivers

Warrnambool is bounded by two rivers - the Merri and Hopkins Rivers - the ocean and spectacular beaches.
Thousands of people make the most of Lady Bay's protected swimming beach and many also enjoy surfing, yachting and windsurfing. Surf lifesavers patrol the beach during the summer.
Stringray Bay, at the mouth of the Merri River, is a beautiful sheltered bay where you can explore the rock pools or wade across to Middle Island at low tide - home to a colony of fairy penguins.
Walk, run, ride, skate or roller blade the 5.7 kilometre picturesque Foreshore Promenade from the Breakwater along the coast to Logans Beach and the Southern Right Whale Nursery - the whales are usually seen between June and September.
Warrnambool is a fisherman's paradise with many types of fishing - off shore; surf; pier or river - try your luck!
